Lucknow: A 24-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide at her rented flat in Gomtinagar area on Monday, police said. The girl was apparently under depression after losing her job a few months back. The landlord Shiv Pujan Singh, of Vinay Khand, told police that the deceased Shobhana Pandey of Varanasi used to live on the ground floor of his house since August 22, 2023.
“On Monday morning, we saw that the lights of her room were on, and the window shutters were open. When I peeped through the window, I saw Shobhana hanging from the ceiling fan of the room,” he told police. Shobhana was unmarried, and used to work at a mall but lost that job about two months ago.
“About three days back she joined a beauty salon near Mithaiwala intersection,” Singh said. SHO, Gomtinagar, Deepak Pandey, said the body has been sent for postmortem and her parents were informed..
