David Gilmour joins with Romany Gilmour on ‘Between Two Points’ – tune in now. The Pink Floyd legend is back, with new album ‘Luck And Strange’ – his first in nine years – set to be released on September 6th via Sony Music. New details of the deluxe editions have been confirmed; it’ll be limited to one run only, and will include bonus tracks and a very special hardback book by Thames & Hudson featuring exclusive photographs taken by Polly Samson during the recording of the album.
— — Indeed, the record seems to be something of a family affair – David Gilmour cites some lockdown broadcasts as being a catalyst for the project. Around that time, David and Romany Gilmour collaborated on the song ‘Yes, I Have Ghosts’, which will appear on the CD and Blu-Ray editions of ‘Luck And Strange’. He comments: “I realised that Romany has exactly the right sort of vulnerability and youth for the song.
In fact, she was halfway through an essay with a train to catch when we asked her: “OK, I’ll sing it once, put the mic on” and that is 90 percent of the finished vocal. New release ‘Between Two Points’ is a beautiful piece of baroque-tinged psychedelic pop – it’s actually a cover, with David and Romany Gilmour re-working a 1999 song from cult favourites The Montgolfier Brothers. Beloved by Creation Records founder Alan McGee – who released their music via his Poptones imprint – the song caught David Gilmour’s attention more than 20 years ago.
