David Duchovny has broken the hearts of his fans after sharing a touching poem dedicated to his beloved dog Brick following his death. The X Files star, 63, had an incredibly close relationship with his rescue dog, who he adopted in 2015. He regularly shared photos alongside the adorable pup, including on the canine’s own Instagram page which boasts more than 16,000 followers keeping up with his antics.
Duchovny shared that he had to decide to have Brick put to sleep, and dedicated a poignant poem to the legacy he leaves behind. Sharing a picture cuddling up to his pooch on Instagram , he wrote: ‘I put down my dog this morning/And cried some/mourning/the loss of his mute expressive soul. ‘That afternoon, at work, a blue sky punctuated only by small loitering clouds/The world moves on in its blithe way/and doesn’t care/About a little dog—- ‘It’s already as if he never existed/But he did/He sure did.
’ Gillian Anderson , who starred alongside Duchovny in The X Files, shared her condolences. ‘Awww Double D I’m so sorry. He was your guy.
RIP Brick Duchovny,’ she wrote. Fans flocked to console the Californication star over his loss, with many left ‘sobbing’ and ‘weeping’ over his heartfelt words. ‘Your world cares about your beautifully-named dog and I bet he’s resting proudly ~ What a beautiful dedication,’ Eliza Roberts wrote.
