David Beckham has devastatingly denied speculation that the Spice Girls will perform together as a group again, after the British stars reunited on-stage during a birthday bash. And it took just four words to shatter all our dreams. Former England footballer David, 49, sparked a social media frenzy when he posted a video of the girl band singing and dancing on stage to their 1998 hit Stop, during his wife Victoria’s 50th birthday party in April.

The couple’s son Cruz then followed it up with a glimpse of the five Spices – Victoria’s Posh, Geri Halliwell ’s Ginger, Melanie C ’s Sporty, Mel B’s Scary and Emma Bunton’s Baby – singing an acoustic version of their ballad Mama , accompanied by the 19-year-old on guitar. The Spice Girls last reunited in 2012 for the closing ceremony of the London Summer Olympics and then in 2019 for their Spice World tour – which did not feature Victoria. ‘I know it’s what people want, but in all honesty, I think I was the most excited of anyone,’ David told Variety of the on-stage birthday reunion.
