Marvel’s “Daredevil” returns next year, an event which will see Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio’s characters finally headlining an actual “Daredevil” series again more than six years after the Netflix series ended in October 2018. In a newly published interview with the pair from the Disney Upfront presentation in New York City this past week, the actors discussed the creative overhaul of the series. That overhaul, decided upon after the production shut down due to the writers and actors strikes, saw it change from a planned 18-episode lighter series with little connection to the original Netflix show, to a darker 9-episode series with deep ties to it.
Cox confirms there is “a lot” of crossover, D’Onofrio adding: “It originally wasn’t going to be at all, but now it’s a lot.” Asked what led to that reversal, Cox says: “I think [it’s] the fans. I think [it’s] the studio as well.
That’s a really fine balance to strike. If you’re going to remake a show and call it Season 1 and it was a successful show and it was kind of beloved, then you’ve got to do what people liked. But also you’ve got to have a reason for remaking it.
So you have to change it up a bit. And that’s just a really fine balance to find. think that they’ve done a beautiful job doing that.
And hopefully, the old fans – the O.G.s – will love it and also, we’ll maybe pick up a few more fans on the way.
” Original series stars Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Ayelet.
