DAMIEN DUFF reckons Ali Coote can add an X-factor to his Shelbourne title chasers. The Scottish midfielder returns to the League of Ireland following his departure from Detroit City earlier this month after agreeing a deal to join the league leaders . And Duff is sure he has got a game changer who could be crucial in the run-in.
Duff said: “Ali is a wonderful signing and a very dangerous player in the league with a lot of X factor. “Ireland is his home from home and he belongs here. He is a player that will excite the fans and influence our games.
“And most importantly, he will buy into our culture, as it is what we are built on” Coote, 26, has plenty of LOI experience with Waterford in 2020 and then spending three seasons with Bohemians carving out a reputation as a goal scoring midfielder with 18 goals in 123 appearances. He left Ireland for Detroit City last January, but has jumped at the chance to return to Dublin with Shelbourne. Coote said: “I’ve spoken to a few of the boys and they love it here.
“Damien and his staff have proved to be top level over the past few seasons and that’s an environment I’m excited to be a part of. “I’m looking forward to getting started and helping the boys finish the season strongly.” Shelbourne are looking to add further reinforcements when the transfer window opens on July 1, with former Dundalk defender Sam Bone and Harry Wood - who spent last season on loan at the club from Hull City - also targets.
Meanwhile, Hul.
