An alarmed gardener raised concerns after noticing a harmful giant hogweed growing dangerously close to a supermarket car park. Green-fingered local Steven Tuffy spotted the towering plant at Morrisons in St Helens, Merseyside. He revealed he first saw the dangerous weed on May 15 and immediately reported it.
Already having a disturbing encounter with the noxious plant several years ago, Steven was worried for unsuspecting supermarket shoppers. Describing the painful burns he experienced from the plant, Mr Tuffy stated: "I have seen it before years ago. I got underneath it to take a picture - I do photography - I didn't touch it and as I walked away I felt like I had been nettled.
I had a week off work and my hand was burning for weeks. "It was unbelievable, it was like I had my hand deep fried. I was 40 at the time and I was physically nearly crying, I was in that much pain of a night with it.
And that was from not even touching it - my hand burned for weeks." Seeing the potential risk posed by the plant, Mr Tuffy wasted no time alerting the management at the Baxters Lane store. He recollected: "I told the manager straight away, I said 'this needs sorting' to make it safe.
I can't emphasise how dangerous it is and the severity of it." I'm an M&S fan and here's all you need to know about the £30 summer beauty bag worth £170 Despite the warning, two days later the hazardous plant was still standing - potentially more dangerous than ever, reports the Liverpool Echo .
