The Los Angeles medical examiner confirmed that Seth Binzer, better known by his stage name Shifty Shellshock, died on 24 June, though the cause of death has not yet been disclosed. He had a history of substance abuse and had previously been hospitalized in 2012 after falling into a coma, but he later recovered.

In recent times, the musician had spoken candidly about his journey towards sobriety and self-love, sharing an intimate post on Instagram just eight weeks ago: "I'm a lover than a fighter ...

His struggles were also documented through his appearances on reality TV shows such as Celebrity Rehab and Sober House. The song, which samples the Red Hot Chili Peppers' track Pretty Little Ditty, became a defining anthem of the early noughties.
