County officials plunged into the world of public aquatics Tuesday with final approval of a pair of contracts, totaling $5.065 million, to build Culpeper's first ever community pool, which will be open to all by Memorial Day 2026. The Board of Supervisors voted 5-2 for a $3.
485 million contract with Culpeper-based Taft Construction to build pool facilities next to the new fieldhouse, opened in 2022 at the county sports complex. This will include a large bathhouse with changing rooms for men and women, entry controls, concessions area, parking lots, administrative office, pavilions, the concrete pads and site work. The Taft contract allows 180 days for construction.
The board then voted 5-2 for a $1.21 million contract with Maryland-based Olympia Swimming Pool Company to build the 25-meter, six-lane lap pool attached to a five-feet-deep, zero entry leisure pool and a nearby splash pad. People are also reading.
