Stunning Cliona (35), a native of Tyrone, married Westmeath musician Simon Sheerin two years ago on May 25. It followed drummer Simon’s romantic surprise December 2020 proposal to Cliona on the banks of Lough Ree, where he had set up a red carpet, an arch adorned by flowers, lots of candles and had Shania Twain’s You’re Still The One playing in the background.
Referring to last Saturday’s anniversary of their wedding, Cliona tells the Sunday World : “I remembered and got the date right this time...
not like last year. It’s usually the husband who forgets the date, but I’m a disaster, to be honest. I forget my own birthday.
“You know what, Simon, definitely in our relationship, is the most romantic one. He just goes above and beyond. He’s phenomenal, I’m very lucky in that respect.
” Looking back on Simon’s proposal, Cliona says: “With the proposal he definitely went above and beyond everything you can imagine and got it so perfect. We always went walking by the lake there and we’d talk about our hopes and our dreams. It’s so beautiful, it’s one of my favourite places in the world, so for the proposal to happen there is the most romantic thing ever.
