Coronation Street ’s Georgia Taylor lifted the lid on her time on the soap which led her to meet her co-star and partner Charlie de Melo . Charlie portrayed the role of Imran Habeeb in the ITV soap, while Georgia plays Corrie icon Toyah Battersby . They fuelled romance rumours back in February of last year, after it was reported that Georgia had split from her partner Mark Letheren.
When asked if she imagined the soap would be such a big part of her life, Georgia said: ‘No not at all, when I joined the show I was on a five month contract and I didn’t see anything beyond that. ‘So the fact that it’s really shaped so much of my life and my personal life is quite extraordinary.’ She added: ‘It really is a gift and it makes that place even more special to me.
Going away and coming back, meeting Charlie, being reunited with Jane at work and now being back up north near my family, I just feel incredibly lucky and thankful for the people that the show has brought into my life.’ Charlie and Georgia worked together for years in Coronation Street. Prior to Charlie’s exit, Imran and Toyah’s storyline focused on the couple becoming foster parents, as well as the reveal Imran is the father of Abi Webster’s (Sally Carman) baby following their one-night stand .
As Toyah spiralled, she confronted Imran during a drive, but things took a devastating turn when Toyah ended up smashing their car into a wall, with the injuries being enough to cause Imran’s death. Baby bombs.
