A survey of 2,000 adults has revealed the UK's favourite staycation spots, with the southwest hotspot taking the top spot due to its stunning beaches, picturesque villages and breathtaking scenery. Other popular destinations for 2024 include the Scottish Highlands, Devon and Yorkshire. North Wales, Cumbria and the Isle of Wight were also high on the list of places Brits are eager to visit.

The research, conducted by Sykes Holiday Cottages as part of its annual Staycation Index , found that a whopping 77% of Brits will take at least one holiday in the UK this year. Furthermore, the holiday home rental company found that the average Brit will take three UK breaks in 2024. Graham Donoghue, CEO of Sykes Holiday Cottages, said: "UK getaways offer the perfect mix of experience, convenience and affordability, making them an excellent choice for those looking to explore and enjoy the beauty of their own country - whether it's for week-long holidays or long weekend trips.
