Girls Aloud fans gasped in shock after singer Cheryl was almost pulled off the stage by an over-zealous fan. The terrifying moment happened during their sold-out Newcastle gig on Friday, a homecoming for Geordie Cheryl who grew up in the city. But things took a frightening turn when an excited fan inexplicably tried to yank the 40-year-old from the stage as she crouched down to greet people in the crowd.

Luckily, a quick-thinking security member held her up and gave her a chance to steady herself, before she walked away looking unsettled. The video was posted on Twitter, with the audience loudly gasping and groaning in disapproval, before someone off-camera can be heard apologising - although it's not confirmed who to. A social media user shared the clip, captioning it: "Poor gals life flashed before her eyes.

" Shocked fans were disgusted with what happened, taking to Twitter to post about what they'd seen. One fan wrote: "Some bloke tried to yank Cheryl off stage during Girls Aloud in Newcastle tonight.” Another posted: "To the person who tried to pull Cheryl off the stage at Girls Aloud in Newcastle tonight, you are NOT a fan, no real fan would ever dream of doing something so terrible.

" A third added: "Whoever that idiot was that tried pulling Cheryl off the stage tonight hope you're ashamed of yourself." While another condemned the act, writing: "Attempting to pull people off stage is not acceptable behaviour. I understand the excitement, but there is no need to endange.
