Brightside Diners, a chain that has quickly spread across Devon throughout 2023, is celebrating a successful first year. The venture is spearheaded by Loungers PLC, which currently operates three Brightside diners after taking over the former Route American-themed diners in 2022. Brightside Exeter, on the A38, was the inaugural site, opening its doors on February 10, 2023.
This was followed by Brightside on the in June 2023, and Brightside Honiton on the A303 in August 2023. The innovative concept is the brainchild of Nick Collins, the commercial director, and Alex Reilley, the chairman. Their ambitious vision is to rejuvenate roadside dining in the UK, with Brightside aiming to inject genuine hospitality into a sector they believe has become "tired and uninspiring".
In recognition of their efforts, Brightside clinched the 'Best Scalable Concept' at the 2023 R200s and has been shortlisted for four additional industry awards, including the 'National Burger Awards' for their renowned Dirty Brisket Burger, reports . Charlie Jones, the operations manager for Brightside, said: "Alex decided he wanted to start something on the side of the road. Little Chef was a big part of his travelling days.
Our main purpose is to bring true hospitality back to the side of the road. We're not a drive-through or an in-and-out Costa; you come in to eat, bringing families together to sit down, enjoy a meal, and put your feet up for half an hour before you make the next four-hour trip." Brightside d.
