One Killeen woman had a vision to give back, just as she had received, by mentoring others to be the best they can be. Boss Girls Mentorship Program is the brainchild of Amey Hundley, who already runs her own events business from a small store front in Central Killeen. “I had a great mentor,” Hundley said.

“My third-grade music teacher inspired me with encouragement and practical skills that I believe everyone needs.” The first six-week session of Hundley’s program has already begun and will run until Aug. 9.

Classes meet from 10 a.m. to 2 p.

m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Last week, participants focused on identifying their vision through images, ideas and the written word.

Honesty Turner, 15, was very specific with her vision. “I put a picture of an airplane on my board,” Turner said. “Because I want to travel.

” Turner also plans to attend the University of Dallas on a volleyball scholarship to study in the medical field. Eventually she would like to become a traveling nurse. Eleven-year-old Lanisha Gillis has very simple goals.

“I want to finish sixth grade with good grades, go to college and succeed in life,” Gillis said. While her goals are more general in nature, part of the mentorship program is designed to help participants hone their goals and dreams into a clearer vision. And, to make it real, Gillis said she wants to drive a Hellcat and that her dream house is a mansion.

That’s what dreams are made of. A third participant, Genesis Dinkin.
