Who else wakes up on a beautiful summer morning and says, “Hmm, I wish to have barbecue for breakfast?” I do! But I’m also the person who has eaten fried catfish and eggs for breakfast. The eatery opened on Memorial Day, and I’ve eaten there several times since. The food is good. The smash burger was the first thing to hook me.
I’ve had a corned beef sandwich, a hot honey crispy chicken sandwich, wings, and of course, fried catfish. But it was the brisket hash breakfast that stood out the most. Brisket hash breakfast from Sarah's Cafe in downtown Saginaw.

However, the co-owner of Sarah’s happens to own a barbecue place – Big O’s Burgers and Barbecue – in Saginaw Township and Midland and has smoked brisket each Saturday. Thank God! The brisket hash comes with juicy chunks of tender smoked beef, potatoes, peppers and eggs (over medium for me). And I know this is the second time I’ve written about brisket hash. The first was from Uptown Grill in Bay City and ironically is where I saw Sarah’s Café’s co-owner Omar Linder months before he opened downtown.
When I had the brisket hash from Sarah’s I asked where the inspiration came from, and he said.
