Just a little warning to fellow Staten Islanders, Borough Patrol Police are scouring our communities, looking to ticket vehicles that have bicycle racks attached, but have no bicycles on them. Apparently, this is a violation. (Since when, and who knew?) My daughter’s vehicles were issued tickets (two tickets at $65 each) because the racks did not have a bicycle on them.
So, according to the officers, here are your options: 1. Remove the racks after riding. 2.
Leave the bicycle on the rack (and it might get stolen). 3. Park the vehicle in your driveway.
Once again, the hard-working citizen is fined so we can feed, clothe, shelter, educate and give medical coverage for you-know-who, while crime is rampant and not being given priority. Whatever happened to our wonderful country, America the Beautiful? (Anita Giordano is a Grant City resident.)
