The brother of a 14-year-old boy who went missing in the Mersey was praised for his bravery after he tried to save him. to beach at around 7pm on Sunday, June 30, following reports a teenage boy had vanished near the radar tower. The call-out sparked a huge response from police, fire and rescue services, the coastguard and the RNLI.

The path to the radar tower was closed off and police officers directed passers-by away from the area as the search continued. The teenager, now named as , has not been found and on Monday, July 1, the coastguard confirmed the search has been . His family are being supported by specially trained Merseyside Police officers and in a statement have asked for privacy at this difficult time.



On Monday, July 2, Daniel's family released a statement and issued a photograph of their missing son saying their "worst fear is that this tragic accident has taken our lovely boy from us".
