What went down this Saturday in Bilbao is pretty hard to put into words, because it was all about the vibes, specifically the culé vibes shown by the 40,000 fans who painted the streets of Bilbao in blue and red from early in the day. Many of them gathered at noon in the culé 'fan zone', creating unforgettable moments in a family-like Barcelona atmosphere. Lyon shirts were a rare sight in Biscay throughout the day, and once inside the stadium, it was clear that the French fans were few and far between.
The Barça wave swept over the small French contingent like a giant wave. One of the clearest signs of the social change brought about by the Barça women's team was that most Barça shirts seen during the day had player names on the back. It was hard to find a Barça jersey without a player's name.
Alexia, Aitana, Mapi León, Graham, Patri.. and so on until every player on the team was represented.
Upon closer inspection, not a single Barça star's shirt was missing from the streets of Bilbao. When the stadium gates opened, the thirty minutes before kick-off were a celebration of Barcelona fans that will be hard to forget, a display of unity and excitement rarely seen before. Songs after songs, the anthem sung almost acapella, and a tifo with a powerful message.
'Movem el món' (we move the world). Because that's exactly what these players have done, moved the world. They've created one of the biggest turnouts in Barça history.
With such a show of love for the tea.
