Kurt Danneker’s career has come to an abrupt end. “My health and future well-being must come first. Although I won’t be able to compete on the field, I will always support my teammates and this program in any way I can.” In his time at Ohio, Danneker made 25 starts and played in 36 games.
He was the 19th highest-rated guard in the group of five in pass blocking and the 10th best in run-block, according to Pro Football Focus. He came in as one of the most highly touted offensive line transfers in the country but was injured on the first day of spring practice and didn’t fully suit up until close to the final scrimmage. “Football has blessed me in more ways than I can count,” he wrote.
“It taught me invaluable life lessons and brought me friendships that will last a lifetime. It has been a long, beautiful journey from Williamsport to Athens and now Waco. I am thankful for it all.
