RED BLUFF — The late Burt Bundy was honored Tuesday with the south Little League ballfield at Mill Creek Park being named “Burt Bundy Memorial Field.” Bundy’s wife, Joyce, shared that he and his buddy were constantly building and rebuilding the backstop fencing. He played slow pitch at the other big fields, and the family would pile their boys and their Great Dane dog in the back and go over to play ball and let kids run around.

She called this park the nucleus of the Los Molinos community. “He was a builder,” Joyce Bundy said. “He scraped those fields and picked up everything that could be picked up or washed away.



” The park was a hot oasis when the Bundy’s boys started in Little League. “There was nothing it,” She said. “It amazes me of what this community has done to improve the park other than just a sandlot baseball field, and that is what it was for so many years.

” Former Supervisor Bob Willams, speaking as a part-time umpire and grandfather of two who play Little League, said he thought there was no better dedication than dedicating this park to Burt’s memory. Supervisor John Leach shared that when he came to the Board, one of his projects was to visit the ball field and examine the electrical system. “I could not believe that somebody had not got electrocuted in that old field, and that is when we decided we needed to look at new lighting and new electrical out there,” He said.
