Slugs and snails are one of the most damaging pests in the garden. Many gardeners spend hours on end trying to make their outdoor space look beautiful – by cutting the grass, planting and watering flowers – so when slugs and snails come to wreak havoc, it's not ideal. While they can do valuable jobs in the garden, such as help to break down plant matter, they also like to eat soft fleshy leaves and seedlings – leaving unsightly ragged holes in the plants you so lovingly grew.
They are also a huge frustration for those who grow fruit and vegetables in their gardens, as they like to munch on them too, causing damage to crops. Gardeners can buy specially formulated slug killer, but it can be costly and dangerous to pets and other wildlife.
