Walking barefoot across the pink sand to the crystal-clear water ahead, the sun’s rays providing a warm welcome, it’s hard not to think this might be the most beautiful beach I’ve seen. And although it seems too good to be real, no magic was conjured to create this stunning natural oasis at the southernmost tip of the island of Eleuthera, although it was Magic that brought us here – the Disney Magic cruise ship, that is. This slice of paradise is Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, the first new Disney Cruise Line (DCL) island in nearly 25 years and a destination that DCL hopes will share the culture of the Bahamian people with its guests, as well as complement its private island, Disney Castaway Cay.

“Castaway Cay is an imaginary place that our guests get to wash up on, it’s in the Bahamas but it’s very Disney,” says Joseph Gaskins, DCL regional director of public affairs for Bahamas and the Caribbean. “What this place allows us to do is have a destination that is inspired by the rich culture, history and heritage of the Bahamas and its natural environment, while still providing our guests with those signature experiences, food and amenities they have come to love about a Disney Cruise Line experience.” To bring Lookout Cay (pronounced “key”) to life and make the Bahamian aspects genuine, Disney collaborated with the community, hiring nearly 200 locals and having an all-Bahamian leadership team on site.
