fans were spooked when a viewer took on a "creepy" old doll which some reckoned looked "possessed". The latest episode of the show aired on Sunday night (May 19), with presenter Fiona Bruce and co poking through people's treasures at Buckfast Abbey in Devon. Fans settled in for the show's usual cosy mix of history and surprise valuations, but were alarmed when the china doll appeared.
Clad in a pink frilly dress and a black beret, the toy was purchased in France in the late 1800s. The owner said it had been bought for her grandmother and that it had been kept in its original box and that nobody had been allowed to play with it over the years. She said it had even used to "talk" although had been silent for a long time.
The show's expert Bunny Campione was clearly taken with the doll, saying how fetching it was. She even said it was "one of the most beautiful dolls" she had come across on the long-running show. However, most viewers certainly did not share her sentiments, flocking to X to comment on how sinister the doll looked.
