Whether or not you’re commuting in to work or already on vacation, a large area of favorable high pressure will settle in directly above Boston, setting up a stunning 24 to 48 hours. With widespread sinking air, you can expect mostly sunny skies, making today a nice day to get outdoors. Temps today will be seasonable, with Boston’s high likely to reach the low-80s, which is spot on to the early-July average of 81 degrees.
With the center of the high pressure system overhead, winds will remain calm with maybe a slight breeze here and there in the late afternoon, simply due to plenty of sunlight and surface heating. The air will be quite comfortable with dew points in the low 50s. All in all, summer days usually don’t get much better than this and the high pressure will linger through Wednesday, setting up another dry day with temps building closer to the mid-80s, mostly due to a shift with wind coming from the south.
Advertisement The switch to a southerly flow Wednesday evening will allow for heat and humidity to start building into the region on Fourth of July, Thursday with a passing warm front. This may lead to some scattered showers early in the day with the air feeling a little heavy. Highs are likely to build toward the mid- to upper-80s with partly cloudy skies.
Though there’ll be an uptick in moisture, a cold front may stay far enough away to hold off any evening showers and thunderstorms. These larger high- and low-pressure systems have been moving in a hurry.
