Ayeni Olusegun President of the Group of African Ambassadors in Qatar and South Africa’s Ambassador to Qatar HE Ghulam Hoosein Asmal has called for recognition of Africa’s achievements while addressing persistent challenges as it builds a better future for the continent. Speaking at the recent Africa Day celebration event in Doha, the envoy commended Qatar for its commitment to Africa. He noted that despite infrastructure deficits, political instability, and the widespread negative impact of climate change, Africa is poised to achieve the second-fastest economic growth globally in 2023-24.

The event was attended by prominent officials, including the Director of the African Affairs Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Abdullah Hussein Jaber; the Director of the Protocol Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ibrahim Yousif Fakhro; MoFA officials; African ambassadors and diplomats; and envoys from European, Asian, and American countries in Qatar. “Despite facing widespread Afro-pessimism that often masks underlying racism, Africa possesses immense potential due to its vibrant and diverse population, abundant natural resources, and increasing influence across various sectors,” said Ambassador Asmal. “The resilience and potential demonstrated by its people and economies is a beacon of hope.



While macroeconomic fundamentals vary, with some areas experiencing growth and others facing challenges, the overall economic outlook for Africa remains .
