Demolition is scheduled Monday for a three-story, 6,000-square-foot home on a secluded New Jersey Island that fell into disrepair following Hurricane Sandy, NJ.com is reporting . Once owned by a famous boatbuilder, the house on small, private Middle Sedge Island in Barnegat Bay near Toms River Township, was approved for demolition in April.

The property includes a helicopter landing pad, a pool, a boardwalk and a boat launch, the report said. “It’s obviously a beautiful view,” Toms River Mayor Dan Roderick said. “You’d have to go down to the Florida Keys to find anything like that, where’d you see one home on its own island.

” Roderick supports the idea of a new house being built on the island, the report said. According to the outlet, records show the current home was built in 1991 and sold for about $1.59 million in 1999.

The home was sold again in 2005 for $100, but with a roughly $265,000 mortgage paid off in full and discharged in 2018..
