Kimbe has been one of the top destinations for travel in the New Guinea Islands Region of Papua New Guinea with a number of amazing resorts or hotels to choose from to stay at. According to Papua New Guinea Tourism Promotion Authority 2023 Visitors Arrival Report, there was a total of 1,970 people who visited West New Britain, and 685 were international visitors there for holiday purposes. People usually have the option of Kimbe Bay Hotel, Liamo Beach Resort, and Hotel Genesis to stay at or visit.
As a local, Trisha Yangawi was able to visit one of the resorts with her family on a Monday morning when they left their home at Buvussi Section 2 in Kimbe. She had stayed over with her cousins and they decided to take a road trip. They did not know the trip was going to take them to the most amazing resort they had ever seen which was Walindi Plantation Resort.
Her uncle David Suwi took them there, and she had been joined by her cousins Jaymie and Phillip Suwi, her sister in-law Samantha Onopia plus one of their brothers from back home. As they left their home at around 9 AM, they could feel the giddy currents from Mt. Otto blowing against their faces.
