Article content Globe Theatre has set the stage for a long-awaited homecoming. After four years of juggling multiple venues, Globe is scheduled to reopen its downtown home late this year following a massive interior renovation to the historic Prince Edward Building — rebranded in 2021 as Globe Theatre at MacCorquodale Place . The project faced multiple delays due to the COVID pandemic, rising construction costs, and some unforeseen structural challenges in the 117-year-old heritage building .

After an original estimate of $29 million in 2019, the project’s final bill of about $45 million required some last-ditch fundraising along with a recent $2-million top up from the City of Regina . With funding now secured, Globe’s 2024-25 lineup was unveiled Tuesday in anticipation of an imminent return to the “theatre-in-the-round” — a term used to describe the classic arena-style seating that surrounds the main stage. “We open our beautiful, fantastic, stunning, newly renovated theatre with four great shows,” artistic director Jennifer Brewin said in a media release.
