1980s rock legend Tommy Lee has rocked out in the most bizarre way – playing a drum kit made out of pots and pans, and drumsticks from a leg of lamb. The musician rose to fame as a founding member of the iconic American rock band Mötley Crüe . As the band’s drummer, he was behind its 1981 debut album Too Fast For Love and a string of hits which included Theatre of Pain, Girls, Girls, Girls and Dr.
Feelgood. He became known for his often eccentric staging, showcasing a series of inventive and bizarre gimmicks during his drum solos. Now aged 61, Tommy Lee shows no sign of mellowing out in his old age, performing at day 1 of the 2024 Bottlerock Music Festival in Napa.
In doing so, the star unveiled one of his strangest set lists yet, playing a drum kit made out of pots and pans. Even odder was his choice of drum sticks – using the bones from a leg of lamb to play. Tommy’s appearance follows news that his recent sexual assault lawsuit has been provisionally dismissed – with the judge in the case giving a woman 20 days to file an amended complaint over Tommy Lee and a helicopter.
The woman, identified as Jane Doe, claimed that he lured her into his helicopter under false pretenses in 2003, where she says he assaulted her. In the filing, she alleges that she went on a 40-minute trip from San Diego to Van Nuys with his personal helicopter pilot David Martz – before the musician joined them when they landed. However, the judge is set to dismiss the case, due to doubts.
