The 13th Cambodia International Film Festival (CIFF) is set to dazzle film enthusiasts with a breathtaking array of cinematic offerings from around the world, with this year’s festival featuring an extraordinary selection of over 140 films from more than 40 countries, including short and feature films, documentaries, and animations. As Cambodia’s largest and most prestigious international cultural event, CIFF promises a week-long celebration of cinematic excellence from June 25-30. All screenings and other events at the festival are free of charge across major cinemas and other venues in Phnom Penh, including Legend Cinemas, Major Cineplex, the French Institute, Bophana Centre, Rosewood Hotel Phnom Penh, Cambodia-Japan Cooperation Centre (CJCC), and Fable Cinema, providing diverse and inclusive platforms for film enthusiasts and creators.
The festival will commence with an opening ceremony at the Chaktomuk Theatre on June 25. The red carpet event will feature the premiere of “Elvis of Cambodia” by Chris G. Parkhurst, setting the stage for a week of vibrant storytelling and cinematic excellence.
The festival will conclude with a closing ceremony at the same venue on June 30, honouring outstanding contributions from filmmakers and artists worldwide. This year’s CIFF official poster features Cambodian painter Chan Dany’s captivating artwork “Nature and Smile” (2022). Crafted from coloured pencil shavings on wood, the piece measures 110×80 cm and depicts a serene.
