Hallelujah, it’s summer break! College commencement has come and gone, and students are beginning their three months of freedom from school. No studying, professors, exams or 8 a.m.

Many college students leave Denton to spend summer back in their hometowns, maybe picking up shifts at an old high school job, enjoying time with family or even just taking a break from paying rent. What about the students who stay in Denton? One might assume that a college town in the summer would be a dry, dead ghost town.



Denton is anything but! More than just a college town, Denton still has plenty of fun things to keep your summer break a real break. With Texas temperatures continuing to soar during the summer, time in a pool is almost a must. Water Works Park is celebrating the 2024 season's opening day this Saturday, May 25. Regular admission is $18 for swimmers 48 inches and taller, $16 for residents of Denton.

Guests can also attend the park's discounted twilight hours for $5 off of the regular price. For those anticipating stopping by the water park fairly often, season passes are available at various tiers, the cheapest being the $80 silver pass for Denton residents. While the park is definitely kid-friendly, it is by no means for kids only.

Older guests can enjoy several big water slides, a lazy rive.
