Various members of the Greater Boston music community provide a glimpse into their Sunday morning playlists: Jess Phaneuf, radio host I’ve been hosting a new Sunday morning radio program at WUMB 91.9 FM for about four months now, and more often than not, Mavis Staples has landed on my playlist. Whether she’s duetting with Levon Helm or collaborating with Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy, everything she does seems to exude hope and positivity.

She sings of connectedness and love, with so much soul! Choice track : “Have a Little Faith” Cindy Diggs, Boston’s “Mother Hip-Hop” While I’m usually an old-school hip-hop head, on a Sunday I will listen to Tamala Mann’s “Take Me to the King” or “Maybe God Is Tryin’ to Tell You Somethin’” from the original “The Color Purple” soundtrack. I don’t go to church anymore, so it’s nice to hear such beautiful, spiritual music on the day that God calls His children to gather. Choice track : “Maybe God Is Tryin’ to Tell You Somethin’” (Quincy Jones) Ben Anderson, the Word Barn/Bright & Lyon Production Advertisement Leif Vollebekk’s “New Ways” album holds the right vibe to enjoy with a mug of dark coffee if you’re mellowing out at the end of the week/weekend, but also some great grooves if you’re already excited for a show that’s coming up that night.

The album is almost five years old now, but it still sits up top on my go-to list. Choice track : “Hot Tears” Wes Kaplan, Lane frontman On an ideal S.
