The following 10 places are just a few examples of the many wilderness areas you can explore with your dog in Maine: Great Pond Mountain Wildlands in Orland totals more than 2,300 acres and includes several multi-use roads and trails, and dogs on leash are allowed on all of these roads and trails except for Hothole Brook Trail and Great Meadow Trail, due to an abundance of porcupines on those two trails.
